The Ukrainian Kyrylytsia, Restored: An Automation Project for Adding the Cyrillic Fields to Ukrainian Records in OCLC WorldCat

This report from the field concerns a collaborative project which resulted in successfully adding Cyrillic fields to about 30,000 Ukrainian bibliographic records OCLC WorldCat, world’s largest online catalogue. Historically, English-speaking libraries were only provided transliteration according Library of Congress Romanization Table. However, current standards also require original script, such as Kyrylytsia. While automating Cyrillicization legacy is theoretically straightforward, practice it faced more than one challenge, poor quality historical changes orthography.
